BGU is a short name for access control break glass unit. They are also useful to have if other emergency services are needed to keep the door open. Haveing the plastic insert is easy to reset as the first ones was glass across the pin and ment that you need to keep glass filaments in stock as well which would always get lost as they are small and thin . its also hard to replace .
