What is a latch and what is used for?
Latch – Wikipedia
A latch or catch (called sneck in Northern England and Scotland) is a type of mechanical fastener that joins two (or more) objects or surfaces while allowing for their regular separation. A latch typically engages another piece of hardware on the other mounting surface.
or In digital electronics a latch is composed of 4 NAND/NOR gates whose outputs are connected in such a manner that the 1/0 bit that is given as input can be stored. In fact NAND/NOR gates that have no memory( generally) can have it , but only if the outputs are connected in ‘that’ manner.
